Donato Giancola - ALL THE PROOFS

Offered here are six (6) editions of complete Artist Proof card collections of Donato Giancola to be auctioned off to the highest bidders direct from the studio of the artist. These sets represent the full and complete gathering of every single Artist Proof card (also called white-back Artist Proofs) sent by Wizards of the Coast to me (Donato) during my creation of card art for the game of Magic:The Gathering, from 1996 to the present day.

The set includes historical proofs such as Memory Jar, Chrome Mox, Spore Frog, Kindle, and the 7th Edition Shivan Dragon, as well as my first Magic card created, Amber Prison, and conceptual favorites like the the Saga Islands, Cartographer, Ebon Dragon, Cromat, Glory, and Mirari.

At this time the number of cards included within these sets stands at 211 items and is growing as more cards are released of commissions executed for forth coming sets. A complete list of the artist proofs now available is listed below.

Each set comes organized in a beautiful, professionally embossed Italian leather binder and matching archival slipcase. Winning bidders will have the option of choosing between a tan colored, blind-embossed binder, or one in black with foil embossed lettering. All slipcases are tan. The winners will also have the option to have the cards left unsigned or signed in black, gold, or silver Sharpie permanent inks.

Auction Basics

This auction will be run as a group win Auction, with the six (6) highest bidders winning the right to purchase the currently available six (6) sets.

The initial offering price for the proof sets will be $5000.

Any buyer/bidder who wish to own a set at this minimum bid price must contact and confirm with me an intent to purchase via Facebook Comments, Private Message, email arts@donatoarts.com or phone 718-797-2438 by 12 midnight EST, Tuesday September 8, 2020.

There will be no new bidders joining the auction after this deadline, nor will any sets be sold after the auction to unregistered buyers.

Bidders must register an intent to purchase before the auction/sale begins.

Bidding

The initial offering price for the proof sets will be $5000.

Any buyers who wish to own a set at this minimum bid price must contact and confirm with me an intent to purchase via Facebook Comments, Private Message, email arts@donatoarts.com or phone 718-797-2438 by 12 midnight EST, Tuesday September 8, 2020.

A limit of two (2) proof sets may be purchased by any one bidder.

After September 8th, if there are six (6) or fewer bidders, the sets will be sold for $5000 to each winning bidder, with any remaining sets removed from offering and returned to our family collection. There will be no sets sold to unregistered bidders/buyers after September 8th.

If there are seven or more bidders, the auction bid price for all six sets will be raised by a $500 increment, and a new round of confirmations to purchase a set at $5500 will be sought from the remaining bidders. if more than six bidders are still participating in the auction, new rounds of $500 incremental bids will be used until only six (6) bidders remain.

The Auction for the six (6) sets will end when there are only six (6) bidders remaining in the auction with the standing bid price not rising for a 24 hour day period. This is to allow for overseas bidders to properly have the chance to respond and engage in the auction. I will take reasonable steps to contact each bidder for each new bid/price raise confirmation.

Bidders may enter in a higher private bid in order to avoid constant reconfirmations through the period of the auction. Any bid increases will be made at the minimal amount to include the bidder in the auction. Thus a bidder may request a high bid of 'X' amount, but the real auction may terminate and be sold at below that price.

Bidding Clarification

To help clarify the Auction and bidding structures:

The opening reserve is $5000 for each set.

If there are six or fewer interested buyers at the September 8th bidder registration deadline, then I sell the sets to the registered buyers at $5000 each, with no Auction.

If more than 6 people want the sets, the sale turns into an auction with $500 price/bid increments for all six sets. Rather than each individual bidding, the price is raised by a set amount, much like at an auction house, and buyers confirm their bid.

The first bid rise in the Auction rises the price of all six sets to $5500. I will confirm again with each bidder to see who is willing to pay the new price. If more than six bidders are still participating, the price then rises to $6000, and another round of confirmations is obtained. Raises keep occurring until there are only six bidders left willing to buy at the final price.

You can put your name in for a set (or two) at $5000, and then on September 8th, I will let all bidders know if they will purchase the sets at $5000 or need to raise their commitment to be in an auction to the next level at $5500. Bidders have 24hrs to respond to each bid rise, unless you enter a private higher bid.

You can enter a private high bid at any time, before or during the Auction if you wish. I will only use the minimal amount of your private bid to keep you in the auction until only six bidders remain. Thus you could place a $9000 high bid, but the auction may end at $8000 if people start to drop out as the price rises. Again, I will notify you each time the bid rises.

The Auction ends when there are only six bidders left in the Auction. Each will receive a set at that final bid price.
