Welcome to the website of Donato Giancola, and the auction for his complete sets of Magic: The Gathering Artist Proofs.
Some clarification on the cards found within the set:
Over the years Wizards has produced various release versions of some cards, like Jayemdae Tome, all of those variations are included along side original, initial releases.
For reasons beyond my knowing, Wizards has periodically sent regular printed game cards (playable printed backs) instead of the white back Artist Proofs, as ‘proofs’ for release of a reprinted card in certain sets. I do not know why this was done, but speculate that white back cards were likely not printed/produced or accidentally fully printed for that card. There are a total of 13 reprinted cards within this set as such. They are included in the collection, even though not white backed, as they were mailed to me from Wizards as ‘proofs’.
Lastly, the fully printed card proof, Memory Jar, from 'From The Vault: Relics' is the only card already pre-signed in a triple colored shadow signature. All other proofs are currently unsigned.
This auction is for the sale of up to six (6) Artist Proof sets out of a total fifteen (15) which may be eventually offered for sale. The other sets, currently part of our family collection may or may not be sold in the future.
As these are full and complete sets, I view their ongoing status to remain complete as a living/progressive work of collectable art. To that end, in order that they remain as representations of my entire creative output for Magic, all future proof cards, in any and all variations, for as long as I received them (called the Accumulative Distribution) will be sent to the holder of these sets for as long as they remain whole and ‘unbroken’. All proofs received by me during a given year will be collected, signed, and mailed to the holder of record at the end of the calendar year. There will no no additional charge to the holder/buyer of record for these Accumulative Distributions as long as I live.
The Accumulative Distribution is conditional upon the set remaining whole (unbroken). If I am notified by the holder of record, or it becomes know, that the set is ‘broken’ through the sale or dispersal of any proofs from the set, the contractual obligation for further Accumulative Distributions of Artist Proof cards from me will cease. My goal is to produce an archival record of my work for Magic and share that with the community as an incredibly rare, collectable item, once a set is ‘broken’ the intent of the original sale is invalidated.
